For this intro I’ll mention a few of my favorites to give an idea of what I like most and who I am. A lot of my favorites are directly tied to nostalgia and what I watched as a kid. That is why there is a lot of Star Wars near the top of my favorites. Revenge of the Sith being my favorite movie with Return of the Jedi and Empire Strikes back also ranking highly. I enjoy action and adventure movies the most but I need a story to go along with them. I won’t love a movie just because it has good action, I need to feel emotionally invested in what is being told. On the other hand though, some comedies with little to no story or emotional connection are some of my favorites just because they’re a great time.

I’m not some film critic or pretentious snob like so many people who talk about movies seem to be; I watch what I want to watch, I like some terrible movies, and I don’t enjoy some movies that many consider great. Enjoy whatever you want to enjoy, it is subjective after all. Like many people who talk about movies, I do have a Letterboxd account that I’ll link at the end of the article and as of today I have watched 636 movies in my life. Many I watched a long time ago so I don’t give them a rating but the ones I have watched recently enough and remember enough I do give a rating that is purely my opinion. If I enjoyed it and think it is well-made, it’ll get a good rating. If I enjoyed it but think it is pretty poorly made, it’ll get a fine rating but won’t be 4.5 or 5 stars. If I do think it is a well-made movie that I understand why people like it and it just wasn’t for me, I won’t give it a terrible rating unless I have something against it personally. But then I will give bad rating to movies that I think are purely terrible. Like Zoolander 2 or Space Jam: A New Legacy for instance. I thought those were awful and if you are a fan of them, sorry if I offended you.

My top 3 favorite movies of all time are all childhood favorites of mine. Number 1 as I mentioned before is Revenge of the Sith; Anakin Skywalker might be my favorite fictional character and I love everything about this movie. Number 2 is Raiders of the Lost Ark. I think it is the best Indiana Jones movie; the entire trilogy is good but this one means the most to me. And third is Cars, the Pixar movie. I watched this so many times as a kid and although realistically I don’t think it is an excellent movie, it is a comfort movie of mine and I could watch it forever.

I’ll talk more later as I continue to watch more movies, since the holidays are coming up soon I will be doing an annual rewatch of the Harry Potter series, but if you want to see more, follow my account below where you can see what I watch and my ratings for each. Thank you for reading and I look forward to writing more on movies later on. It won’t be as frequent as the sports posts and probably not as frequent as the video game ones, but I will definitely write more later about what I am watching.
